📝 Description
The Ultra Hike 13, or Grand Tour de l'Étang de Berre, is a walk of endurance around the pond of Berre, to be realized with a free-paced and semi-autonomy. The departure takes place in Marignane or Miramas, near Marseille, according to the chosen format. Two distances are proposed: 122 km or 55 km. No ranking is planned: the objective is simply to close the course, each moving at its own pace in the south of France. The watchword is to take time, each moving at its pace, because in the south one takes time. These committed distances put mental and physical endurance on the test, but remain accessible to any walker well prepared to maintain a regular look over a long time. You have to keep the pace one step after another, kilometer after kilometer, to reach the finish line. Several beaches mark the route along the route and offer opportunities for break and welcome recovery along the water. The Berre pond, one of Europe's largest inland seas, is the atypical setting for this adventure in southern France. This vast body of water, often seen on the maps next to the sea, reveals a surprising natural and human richness that takes the time to explore it on foot for tens of kilometres. The territory traversed alternate natural areas, coastal areas and landscapes characteristic of Provence, with the diversity of the riparian municipalities that enrich the discovery over the kilometres travelled around this unknown jewel. The medal awarded to each participant at the end of his or her effort symbolizes the courage and perseverance deployed during this atypical endurance event in the Bouches-du-Rhône.
